Editorial Illustration Direction — 2nd.MD
2nd.MD needed a visual story: how the image of “doctor” has shifted over 50+ years, told through editorial illustration. The challenge was balancing historical accuracy with a style clean enough to feel current and trustworthy.
I partnered directly with their in-house art director through several rounds of character development. As always, I started with my Copic pens to create loose sketches to keep the process fast and collaborative before any pixel was touched. That back-and-forth shaped the final visual language, a style specific enough to carry historical detail but restrained enough to read as premium editorial work.
Once direction was approved, I built out the full character set in Photoshop and Procreate, keeping every era visually distinct while unifying them under one cohesive style system.
